About Allegri Ensemble

The Allegri Ensemble, Messiah 2011

Allegri Ensemble Incorporated is a not-for-profit association which takes the form of a chamber choir based in Hobart, Tasmania. It comprises a tightly-knit group of Hobart’s finest choral singers, drawn from many local choirs.

It aims to perform a wide range of choral music, much of it rarely heard in Tasmania, and to present it imaginatively in venues appropriate to the repertoire of each concert.

The choir was established by Musical Director Andrew Bainbridge, and after sell-out perfomances of The Messiah in 2010, 2011 and 2014, continues to go from strength to strength, performing numerous concerts each year with repertoire spanning from the Medieval to the Romantic periods.

Since 2011 Allegri Ensemble has established itself as one of Australia’s best non-professional choirs. In 2015 the choir was invited to perform at Government House, featured on ABC radio and performed Duruflé’s Requiem with organist virtuoso Oliver Brett.

Allegri Ensemble was established as an Incorporated Organisation in 2016.
